Divorce between celebrity couple finalized

From child support to alimony, couples who file for divorce often have many things to take into account. However, the division of marital property can be particularly difficult for divorcing couples in Salt Lake City, and the rest of Utah. Before filing for divorce, people may want to closely review the potential financial impact of splitting up with their spouse and understand how their property could be divided by the court.

A divorce between actors Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas was recently finalized in L.A. Superior Court. The dissolution comes roughly a year and a half after the celebrity couple shared their plans to part ways with the public. The couple, who are both in their 50's, were married for more than 19 years and say their separation was consensual.

According to one source, the couple signed a postnuptial agreement in 2004. As a result, the couple will divide earnings on projects they were involved in between 2004 and 2014. However, they will not split up earnings made on projects from 1998 to 2003. The couple also recently sold property in Hancock Park for nearly $16 million, which they divided between themselves.

While divorce isn't always easy, many people determine that it is necessary and should do everything in their ability to prevent complications. Sometimes, couples may be able to move forward with the collaborative process, while others may find themselves in the middle of a bitter courtroom dispute. For people who are dealing with divorce, contacting a knowledgeable attorney may be a wise decision.
