Jessica S. Couser

Jessica S. Couser covers the practice areas of custody, divorce, parentage, custody enforcement, child support, adoptions, protective orders, guardianship, and more. She is often court-appointed to represent children in divorces that are particularly high-conflict. As the President of Collaborative Professionals of Utah, Jess has presented to attorneys and other legal professionals on the topic of Collaborative Law. Jessica adores camping and spending time with her family and her pair of chow chows in her 1967 vintage Shasta trailer.

In 2005, Jess graduated with a B.A. from the University of Utah, and went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga School of Law in 2009. Shortly thereafter, she worked an externship with the Honorable Judge O. Reilly in the Juvenile and the Spokane County Superior Courts. Additionally, Jess held an internship with TeamChild, a youth advocacy group based out of Seattle. There, she produced and facilitated an advocacy program emphasizing education in conjunction with the Spokane Juvenile Court. She was recognized for her excellent work on a case with Gonzaga’s University Legal Assistance, which helped a Sudanese refugee reclaim custody of her children. While at law school, she founded the Gonzaga Student Alliance for Social Justice. She also served on the boards for the Gonzaga Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, the Gonzaga Public Interest Law Project, and the Access to Justice Law School Relations Committee.
